Michel's Patisserie's Surprise Cake Review

November 07, 2015

Michel's Patisserie has just launched a new fun way to create your own cake with your own designs. There are only a few steps to follow, choose a pick up place and date and when the day comes, just simply pick it up from your preferred Michel's Patisserie store. When Michel's Patisserie offered the chance to review the cake, I was quite excited as it sounds fun to do and I have tried a few of their cakes before in which I enjoyed eating.

There are a few different types of cake you can order and with 5 easy steps, you can do it in a flash.. Of course, unless if you have a dilemma choosing all the yummy flavours and toppings then it might take a while.

Step 1. Choose your base size (Small, Medium, Large)
Step 2. Choose your flavour (Vanilla Sponge or Chocolate sponge)
Step 3. Choose your toppings (Marshmallow Smash, Choc Malt, Choc Sparkle, Strawberry, Rainbow etc. just to name a few)
Step 4. Choose your sides (Chocolate plaques or Marbled plaques)
Step 5. Choose your ribbon

We ordered a Small ($24.9), chocolate sponge with marbled plaques, rocky road topping and a red ribbon. The hardest part would definitely be choosing what toppings you would like as there were so many choices and they all looked delicious, making you want to try them all. The presentation of the cake when we picked it up was exactly the same as what was online on photos which is usually hard to get sometimes since what you get may not look as pretty or such.
The small size was enough for the two of us, specially if we kept trying to eat at least a slice each night, it would easily be finished before we realised. The marbled plaques was placed neatly around the cake wrapped with a tied red bow.
The cake was not as sweet as I thought it would be which was such a delight as sometimes, when cakes tend to be too sweet, a slice is enough for the both of us. The rocky road topping was overflowing making it quite hard to slice through the cake. The chocolate sponge was airy and was not dense like a chocolate mud cake sponge. The chocolate sponge however had a layer of chocolate cream and a thin layer of strawberry jam which added an extra touch to the whole cake.
